Overnight: Tented Campsite

After a scenic drive from Paro via the National Museum to the trek starting point near Ozone Villa, begin your ascent through pine and alpine forests. The trail gradually climbs toward Jele La Pass, offering panoramic views of the Paro Valley.

Reach Jele Dzong, a historic fortress in ruins dramatically located on a mountain ridge. Enjoy a peaceful evening at the campsite surrounded by pristine Himalayan landscapes.

Today’s trek leads through dense rhododendron and alpine forests to a scenic saddle at 3,590 m. On clear days, enjoy spectacular views of Mount Chomolhari (7,314 m), one of Bhutan’s most sacred peaks.

This region is known for sightings of the vibrant Himalayan Monal pheasant. The trail ends near Jangchulakha, a traditional yak herder settlement, offering a rare glimpse into high-altitude pastoral life.

Overnight: Tented Campsite

Follow a ridge trail to Jangchu La Pass (4,180 m), one of the most scenic viewpoints of the trek. Descend toward Jimilang Tsho, a pristine alpine lake famous for its giant trout.

Enjoy magnificent views of Mount Jichu Drake (6,989 m), revered as the guardian deity of the Paro Valley. Camp beside the tranquil lakeshore, surrounded by untouched wilderness.

Campsite Altitude: 4,040 m
Overnight: Tented Campsite

Today’s relatively gentle walk passes through dwarf rhododendron forests, yak pastures, and Janetsho Lake. The trail gradually climbs to the Simkota Tsho area, another high-altitude lake renowned for its abundant trout and peaceful surroundings.

Distance: 10 km | Trek Duration: 6–7 Hours
Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu

Begin with a gradual ascent to a saddle at 4,180 m before crossing Phume La Pass (4,210 m), marked with fluttering prayer flags. On clear days, witness awe-inspiring views of Mount Gangkhar Puensum (7,541 m)—the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.

Descend past Thujidrag Goemba, a dramatic cliff-side meditation retreat, and continue through juniper and blue pine forests to Phajoding Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.

Complete your trek with a downhill walk to the roadhead and transfer to your hotel in Thimphu
