Day 1 : Arrival at Paro International Airport:

After arriving at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your dedicated certified guide, and after immigration & baggage collection you will proceed to your hotel in Thimphu, capital of Bhutan. After refreshment you will start your trip according to below itinerary with certified guide and dedicated vehicle.

National Memorial Chorten
Memorial chorten has been designed to present it as “one of the most visible religious structures in Thimphu”. The Memorial Chorten, in the heart of the city, is designed is a Tibetan style chorten, also called as the Jangchup Chorten, patterned on the design of a classical stupa. The feature that is distinct here is the outward flaring of the rounded part to give the shape of a Vase, unlike a dome shape. National Memorial chorten is an extraordinary example of Buddhist architecture and artwork with its gorgeous paintings and intricate sculptures. You will find elderly Bhutanese people circumambulating this throughout the day. Overnight hotel in Thimphu.

Day 2 : Thimphu – Punakha

Post early breakfast, you will drive towards Punakha via Dochu La pass, from where one can see a panoramic view of the eastern Himalayas, birding along the Pass . White-throated, Striated and Chestnut-crowned Laughing thrushes. Darjeeling Woodpecker, Rufous Sibia, Hoary- throated Barwing, Stripe-throated Yuhina, Rufous-winged Fulvettas, Lemon-rumped and Ashy- throated Warblers, Whistler’s Warbler (split from Golden- spectacled), the diminutive, Phylloscopus-like Yellow- browed Tit, Rusty-flanked Treecreeper, Green-tailed Sunbird, Common Crossbill, Dark-breasted Rosefinch and Red-headed Bullfinch. look for Fire- tailed Myzornis here. Then descend to Punakha (1350m) for a night overlooking the Puna Sang Chu valley.

Day 3 : Punakha Sightseeing

Today we will go for a day trip to Mo Chu and look along the river for Slaty-backed Forktail.Look for Yellow- vented Warbler, Spotted Wren-Babbler,rare and little-known White-bellied Heron and Pallas’s Fish Eagle. Other birds include Crested Serpent Eagle, Kalij Pheasant, Himalayan Cuckoo (split from Oriental), Himalayan Swift let, House Swift, White-throated Kingfisher, Great and Golden- throated Barbets, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Greater and Lesser Yellownapes, Maroon Oriole, Ashy and Hair-crested Drongos, Common Myna, Grey Treepie, Black-winged Cuckoo-Shrike, Mountain Bulbul, Ultramarine, Verditer and Grey-headed Flycatchers, Small Niltava, Slaty-bellied crowned and Grey-hooded Warblers, Black-throated Tit, Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch, Fire-breasted Flowerpecker and Black-throated Sunbird. There will also be an excellent selection of babblers which may include Rufous-capped Babbler, Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush, Red-tailed and Blue-winged Minlas, Whiskered Yuhina and Nepal Fulvetta. Along the river near the town look for Ibisbill, and Slender-billed Oriole in the nearby trees. Overnight Hotel in Punakha.

Day 4 : Punakha – Trongsa

Today we will drive down to Trongsa along a road that will take you through a warm broad leaved forest. We will be driving by the Black Mountains up to the Pele La pass at 3400 meters above sea level. Today list of birds we will be on the lookout for include; Scarlet Finch, White-throat-ed Laughing Thrush, Eurasian Jay, Verditer Flycatcher and a variety of exoctic pigeon species. We will also visit the Phobjikha Valley to spot the rare Tibetan Black Necked Cranes that come to roost in the valley.Overnight Hotel in Trongsa

Day 5 : Trongsa – Bumthang

Today we will undertake a 3 hour drive to Bumthang via the Yotong La pass which is at an altitude of almost 3500 meters. En route we stop and the village of Zugney in the Chumey valley, the village is famous for its Yathra fabric. The Yahtra is a color full wool weave, whose pattern is native to central Bhutan. You will explore the bamboo-clad slopes ofthe Yutong La pass where we have to look for such high altitude species as Alpine Accentor, White-browed Bush Robin, Great and Brown Parrotbills, and even the furtive Fulvous Parrotbill. From here we drop down into Bumthang & Jakar.We will take the opportunity to visit a few shops in the village, where you may be able to see how they dye the wool using natural dyes. We will also take a hike through the bamboo and coniferous forests of the Valley in the search of the Great Parrotbill, Black billed Magpie, Red Billed Chough, Eurasian Hobby and the White – winged Grosbeak. You may also get to spot the Red Panda, an animal that is frequently sighted along the road. Overnight hotel in Bumthang.

Day 6 : Bumthang- Yonkola

Post breakfast you will be driven towards eastern Bhutan via the Thrumshingla pass along the diverse and unique landscape of the Thrushmingla National Park. As we drive along we will have the chance to spot ; the Beautiful Rosefinch, Gold-Naped Finch, Little fork-tail, White-capped Redstart, the Coal Tit, Green- Tailed Sunbird etc. You wil l have a very high chance of spotting the Red Panda in the dense bamboo forest between Ura and Thrumshing La pass. Overnight stay in Camp in the forest.

Day 7 : Yonkola

In the morning we will go to Namling, Namling is considered as the best bird watching location in all of Bhutan and many avid bird watchers spend weeks in the area. The forests along Namling are virtually unexplored. here you can hope to spot ; Ward’s Rrogon, Satyr Tragopan, Grey chinned Minivet Chestnut Breasted Partridge amongst a host of other birds. Overnight stay in a Camp in the forest.

Day 8 : Yonkola – Mongar

Post breakfast you will en route to Mongar where we will go birding in the sub tropical forests of Lingmithang, where we have a chance to encounter the Blue Throated Bee-eater, Maroon Oriole, Racket Tailed Drongo, Red headed Trogon, Grey Treepie, Grey Nightjar, Hill Prinia, the Asian emerald Cuckoo amongst a host of exotic birds that are native to the area. We will reach the town early in the evening and you will have the rest of the day at leisure to walk around town. Overnight in a hotel in Mongar

Day 9 : Lingmithnag-Trongsa

After breakfast we will drive to Trongsa via Pele La Pass. Where you will get to spot the White-bellied Heron along the river and up through a forest of cool broadleaf and evergreen trees to Pele-la, the pass that divides eastern and western Bhutan. The diverse habitats along the way should present numerous prospects of seeing a great range of speciessuch as Cutia, Great Barbet, Darjeeling Woodpecker, Long-tailed Minivet, Streak-breasted Scimitar-Babbler, White-throated Laughing thrush, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Yellow-bellied Bush-Warbler, Ashy-throated Leaf Warbler, and Verditer. Ward’s Trogon is usually sighted along this road. Overnight hotel in Trongsa.

Day 10 : Trongsa- Paro

Post breakfast you will be driven towards Paro and there you will go by the river side for Ibisbill, and Black-tailed Crake. Check for breeding birds of the area include River Lapwing, Grey-backed Shrike, Red- billed Chough, Large-billed Crow, Green-backed Tit, Brown Dipper, Plumbeous and White-capped Water- Redstarts, Siberian Stonechat, Himalayan Wagtail and Russet Sparrow and any winter visitors such as Green Sandpiper, Rosy Pipit, Rufous-breasted Accentor, Hodgson’s Redstart and Black-throated Thrush. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Day 11 : Paro- Chele La Pass

After breakfast, you will be driven towards we will drive to the Chele La Pass which is located at an altitude of 3950 meter above sea level, for seeing the Himalayan MonalBlood Pheasant (and also our first Kalij Pheasants) and also Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Grey Nightjar, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Spotted (or Eurasian) Nutcracker, Long-tailed Minivet, Coal, Grey-crested and Rufous-fronted Tits, Black-faced Laughingthrush, White-browed Fulvetta, Rufous-vented Yuhina, Rufous- gorgeted Flycatcher, Buff- barred Warbler, Himalayan Red-flanked Bluetail (split from Northern), Blue-fronted Redstart, Long-tailed Thrush, White-collared Blackbird, Mrs Gould’s Sunbird, Olive- backed Pipit, the huge Collared Grosbeak, White- winged Grosbeak, and Himalayan White-browed and Dark-rumped Rosefinches. Post lunch you will be driven back to Paro and there you will be taken for a hike up to Taktsang Monastery, also known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’. Tighter Nest Monastery (Taktsang Lhakhang) is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This temple is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom. It is believed that Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew to this location from Tibet on the back of a tigress from Khenpajong. This place was consecrated to tame the Tiger demon, was first built in 1692 at a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated in a cave, in the 7th century A.D. for 3 years, 3 months, 3 days and 3 hours in order to subdue evil demons residing within it. The cave has been considered a sacred site ever since and many famous saints have travelled to meditate in it. In order to arrive at the temple you must trek for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests that is colorfully festooned with moss and prayer flags. On many days, clouds shroud the monastery and give an eerie feeling of remoteness. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable heritage site. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Day 12 : Departure Paro

Today your trip is over and after breakfast your guide will take you to Paro International Airport to board your departure flight, and you return back with lots of good memories.
