ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Paro

  • Welcome to Bhutan!
  • Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your pre-booked hotel.
  • After check-in and freshening up, spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Paro Sightseeing

  • After an early breakfast, we will head out to explore Paro Valley.
  • The first destination of the day will be the National Museum of Bhutan, which is housed in the Ta Dzong building.
  • This watchtower-style museum holds a rich collection of Bhutanese artefacts, weapons, handicrafts and ritual objects. Next, we will visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong, a 17th century fortress.
  • This impressive structure is a fine example of Bhutanese architecture, and is home to several monasteries.
  • We will also explore the nearby Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in the country.
  • Later, we will take a stroll through the colourful streets of Paro and visit the traditional shops to buy souvenirs.

Day 3: Drive to Thimphu

  • After breakfast, we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
  • En route, we will stop at the Simtokha Dzong, located at the entrance of Thimphu valley.
  • This 17th century fortress is the oldest Dzong in Bhutan and is home to a monastic school.
  • Post lunch, we will head to the Buddha Dordenma statue, located atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park.
  • This giant statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is one of the largest in the world and is made of gilded bronze and gold.
  • Next, we will explore the Memorial Chorten, which was built in 1974 in memory of the third King of Bhutan.
  • We will also visit the National Library, where you can browse through a large collection of Buddhist manuscripts.

Day 4: Explore Thimphu

  • After breakfast, we will visit the National Institute of Traditional Medicine.
  • Here, you can learn about the traditional herbal treatments and the various medicinal plants used in Bhutan.
  • Next, we will visit the Drubthob Goemba, a monastery located on a hill overlooking the Thimphu valley.
  • We will also visit the Tashichho Dzong, a fortress that serves as the seat of the Bhutanese government.
  • Post lunch, we will take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Thimphu and visit the traditional shops to buy souvenirs.

Day 5: Drive to Punakha

  • Today, we will drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan.
  • On the way, we will stop at the Dochula Pass, which offers spectacular views of the Himalayan mountains.
  • We will also visit the Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the ‘Divine Madman’, Drukpa Kunley.
  • This temple is known for its fertility shrine and is believed to be a place of miracles.
  • Post lunch, we will drive to Punakha and check-in to our hotel.

Day 6: Explore Punakha

  • After breakfast, we will visit the Punakha Dzong, a 17th century fortress located on the confluence of two rivers.
  • We will also visit the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a sacred shrine located atop a hill.
  • Post lunch, we will take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Punakha and visit the traditional shops to buy souvenirs.

Day 7: Drive to Trongsa

  • Today, we will drive to Trongsa, a small town located between Punakha and Bumthang.
  • On the way, we will stop at the Wangduephodrang Dzong, a 17th century fortress perched atop a hill.
  • Post lunch, we will drive to Trongsa and check-in to our hotel.

Day 8: Explore Trongsa

  • After breakfast, we will visit the Trongsa Dzong, a 17th century fortress located at the junction of two rivers.
  • We will also visit the nearby Ta Dzong, a watchtower-style museum that holds a rich collection of Bhutanese artefacts.
  • Post lunch, we will drive to Bumthang and check-in to our hotel.

Day 9: Explore Bumthang

  • After breakfast, we will visit the Jakar Dzong, a 17th century fortress located atop a hill.
  • We will also visit the nearby Kurjey Lhakhang, a temple complex dedicated to Guru Rinpoche.
  • Post lunch, we will take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Bumthang and visit the traditional shops to buy souvenirs.

Day 10: Departure

  • Today, we will drive to Paro International Airport for our flight back home.
